A delightful dish combining savory chicken with layers of ham and Swiss cheese, breaded and baked to perfection. Perfect for home cooks looking for a comforting, impressive meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Your choice of sauce for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking.
  2. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on top of each chicken breast, ensuring even coverage.
  3. Tightly roll up each chicken breast, securing it with toothpicks if needed to keep everything in place.
  4. Create three separate dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs mixed with milk, and another for breadcrumbs.
  5. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip it into the egg mixture, and then roll it in breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  6. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chicken rolls and sear them on all sides until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Once browned, transfer the chicken rolls to a baking dish and pour your choice of sauce over the top.
  8. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and juices run clear.
  9. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps retain the juices.

Notes

Use boneless, skinless chicken breasts for even cooking. Opt for panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness. Sauce options include Alfredo, marinara, or creamy mushroom sauce.
