Delightful, festive Halloween doughnuts perfect for any gathering, customizable and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Food coloring (for decoration)
  • Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until thoroughly combined.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Mix Together: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring just until combined.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the Doughnuts: Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  6. Drain: Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.
  7. Decorate: While still warm, dust with powdered sugar or use colored icing and sprinkles to decorate.
